BestHealth4U is a Portuguese Startup founded in 2017 driven by the mission to redefine medical adhesives and improve the quality of life for patients worldwide.
Sónia Ferreira, the founder and CEO of BestHealth4U, was introduced to EIT Health in 2018 and this became a turning point for the startup. In this year they joined their first program, Jumpstarter, in Warsaw. This was soon followed by the participation in Headstart and Innostars Awards, all of which validated their vision and opened doors to a broader healthcare ecosystem.
2019 became a pivotal year as the company started engaging in multiple EIT Health programs that significantly accelerated their journey, namely:
- Startup Meets Pharma, where they received invaluable mentorship from a pharmaceutical company;
- Living Labs & Test Beds, which prepared them for clinical validation;
- Bridgehead Europe and Global, enabling them to expand their network and scale internationally;
- RIS Innovation Call, which supported their innovation efforts in underserved regions;
- A mentorship program which provided business knowledge from professionals in the medical adhesives and healthcare industries.
In the words of Sónia Ferreira: “our relationship with EIT Health has been a cornerstone of our journey, offering us opportunities to develop and validate our technology while growing both the company and our professional network. As an EIT Health Alumni, we continue to participate in EIT Community events, which have been instrumental in supporting our current focus on company growth, patent strategy, and building relationships with stakeholders and potential clients.”
These achievements prepared the company for crucial investments to be made by relevant Portuguese VC Funds Portugal Ventures and Lince Capital.
2024 brought yet another remarkable milestone as BestHealth4U was selected for the prestigious EIC Accelerator program, which includes a 2.5 million euro grant and an equity component of €5 million. As part of this program, the European Investment Bank (EIB) invested €2.5 million, which was matched by additional private investors. They are now actively fundraising to complete the round and continue advancing their mission.
