The project “CleanAirNet – Revolutionizing Indoor Air Quality” was supported by EIT Manufacturing as one of the activities selected within the Innovation Call for Proposal 2023. Led by ISCLEANAIRS.rl., an Italian innovative advanced technology company, the project was developed by a consortium of five partners composed as follows: ISCLEANAIR Srl (Italy), Comesvil SpA (Italy), CEA (France), IPOOL Srl (Italy), CUBIT S.c.a.r.l. (Italy).
The project focused on enhancing and industrialising a smaller-size filter-less air purification technology (APA) for indoor space markets, with a human-centred approach. Its goals included reducing noise levels, complying with indoor legislation, and minimising water consumption and maintenance requirements. By incorporating new methods for decomposing contaminants in water and by introducing a virus detection tool using the water stored in APA devices, CleanAirnet is not only improving air purification but also actively enhancing the safety of indoor environments for employees and students alike.
Trials of these innovations in various real-world settings have yielded remarkable results. The technology now effectively removes nanoparticulate matter, viruses, and bacteria, ensuring cleaner and safer air for occupants. Furthermore, the support from EIT Manufacturing has facilitated production scale-up, enabling these solutions to reach new markets and address the air quality needs of major industries in Europe, including power, cement, petrochemical, and metallurgical sectors.
