On 17 September 2026, the Faculty of Economy at “Fan S. Noli” University (UNIKO) in Korça hosted the EIT Info Day for the South East Region of Albania. The event was organised by the National Contact Point for Albania for the EIT, Prof. Dr. Klodiana Gorica, in collaboration with EIT Community Hub Albania and with the support of NASRI.
The day opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Aida Gambeta, Dean of the Faculty of Economy, who set the stage for the discussion.
Dr. Gorica then introduced the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), Europe’s leading innovation engine, which brings together business, academia, and research to turn promising ideas into market-ready solutions through its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs).
The role of EIT Community Hub Albania
Since its launch in February 2025, the Hub has acted as the country’s single gateway and one-stop shop to the EIT ecosystem. It connects universities, research institutes, companies, and public institutions with European programmes and helps turn them into concrete Albanian projects.
The discussion that followed covered:
- New EIT calls and how Albanian institutions can benefit from them
- How universities can apply to become part of the EIT ecosystem
- Opportunities for students and young people with innovative ideas or start-ups
- Courses available on EIT Campus, the EIT’s training platform for skills development and entrepreneurship
The Info Day brought together researchers, professors, and representatives of the municipality, public institutions, and the business community, as well as students and young innovators from the Korça region.
