On 5 June 2026, the second day of the Western Balkans Youth Forum, Dr. Françeska Korançe, EIT Community Officer Albania, took part in the panel “Youth Leading the Green Transition: Shaping a Sustainable and Stable Region” on youth-led green transition and sustainable development.
The Forum took place from 4 to 7 June 2026 in Budva. The Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) and the Government of Montenegro organised it jointly, under the Berlin Process Chairmanship. The panel itself was co-designed by RYCO and Open Society Foundations Western Balkans. It brought together policymakers, experts, and young leaders committed to building a greener and more resilient region.
How does the EIT Community support young people?
Panellists also stressed that the green transition is a question of competitiveness, jobs, education, and social fairness, not only an environmental priority. Representing the EIT Community Hub Albania, Dr. Korançe highlighted the importance of empowering young innovators and entrepreneurs through education, innovation ecosystems, and cross-sector collaboration. She showed how the EIT Community supports young people through:
- Skills development
- Entrepreneurship programmes
- Innovation projects
- European networks
- Funding opportunities
More than 220 participants from across the region took part in the Forum. It provided a valuable platform for dialogue and cooperation, and for developing youth-driven recommendations that will help shape the green transition and contribute to the Western Balkans Leaders’ Summit 2026.
