On 5 February 2026, the EIT Community Hub Albania hosted “Harvesting Innovation with EIT Urban Mobility”, a high-level event connecting national and local institutions, municipalities, and innovators with Europe’s leading urban mobility ecosystem.
The event opened with remarks by Ms. Françeska Korançe, EIT Community Officer at EIT CH Albania; Mr. Michael Oos from EU4Innovation, GIZ Albania; and Ms. Zana Joca, Director of the Directorate of Policies and Strategies for the Development of Transport and Infrastructure at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy.
Ms. Carolina Garcia, City Funding Officer at EIT Urban Mobility, then presented the programmes and opportunities available to Albanian stakeholders. She outlined how cities, innovators, and public authorities can access funding, mentorship, expertise, and collaborative European projects to deploy innovative mobility solutions tailored to Albania’s urban challenges.
Two panels on Albania’s urban mobility ecosystem
The event continued with two panel discussions on Albania’s urban mobility ecosystem. The first, “Exploring Challenges and Potentials”, brought together leaders from municipalities, development foundations, and sustainability initiatives to discuss congestion, safety, emissions, accessibility, and tourism flows. The second, “Technology Providers and Business Solutions”, featured innovators and tech companies presenting concrete solutions to these challenges, and highlighted opportunities for pilot projects, collaboration, and scaling across Albanian cities.
These discussions marked a key milestone in strengthening Albania’s urban mobility ecosystem, fostering knowledge sharing and building partnerships for smarter, greener, and more connected cities.
