On 9 March 2026, the EIT Community Hub Albania, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Klodiana Gorica, National Contact Point for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), hosted “Harvesting Innovation with Climate KIC” at Europe House Tirana. The event brought together startups, researchers, public authorities, and civil society organisations committed to climate action, and was dedicated to unlocking opportunities under Climate KIC, Europe’s leading climate innovation community, for Albania’s climate innovation ecosystem.
The event opened with introductory insights from Prof. Dr. Klodiana Gorica, who presented the EIT and the opportunities available through its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), and Ms. Belisa Haxhiu, Project Manager at Build Green Group, who outlined the services and assistance offered by the EIT Community Hub Albania to the national ecosystem.
What does Climate KIC offer Albanian stakeholders?
Dr. Françeska Korançe, EIT Community Officer at EIT Community Hub Albania, then introduced EIT Climate KIC, its mission, strategic priorities, and role in supporting climate innovation in Europe. Participants learned about the funding schemes, acceleration programmes, and innovation support instruments available to Albanian stakeholders, and how these can help address national priorities such as climate adaptation, mitigation, energy transition, and resilience.
The presentation then continued with an overview of the types of funding and support available through the EIT Community, including current and upcoming KIC open calls. A dedicated session on “From Innovative Ideas to Competitive Project Proposals” then guided participants through application procedures, key eligibility rules, and practical tips for building strong applications. Participants gained hands-on insight into how to engage with European climate innovation programmes.
The event concluded with an open Q&A and networking session, allowing participants to discuss opportunities, exchange ideas, and explore potential partnerships.
The event brought together startups, researchers, public authorities, and civil society organisations, strengthening collaboration among the Albanian ecosystem.
