On 6 March 2026, the EIT Community Hub Albania, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Klodiana Gorica, National Contact Point for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), hosted “Harvesting Innovation – Unlocking Opportunities for the Albanian Ecosystem” at Europe House Tirana. The event brought together representatives from academia, public institutions, businesses, and innovators.
The event highlighted the opportunities offered by the EIT and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), helping Albanian stakeholders understand how to access funding, participate in international projects, and build competitive applications within the European innovation ecosystem.
Open calls, funding schemes and strong applications
The first session opened with introductory insights from Prof. Dr. Klodiana Gorica, who presented the EIT and an overview of KIC opportunities. After that, services and support available through the EIT Community Hub Albania were presented.
The second session focused on open calls; the types of funding and support available were presented, along with current and upcoming KIC open calls. Opportunities from several EIT communities were covered, including InnoEnergy, EIT Digital, EIT Health, EIT Food, EIT Urban Mobility, EIT Culture & Creativity, EIT RawMaterials, and EIT Manufacturing.
A third session addressed funding schemes, participation pathways, and how to build competitive applications, covering available funding instruments, who can apply, key success factors for strong proposals, common mistakes to avoid, and practical tips for applicants.
The event concluded with a Q&A and open discussion on next steps and contact points, followed by a networking session, strengthening collaboration and supporting Albanian stakeholders to engage with European innovation programmes.
